Thursday Night TEN@GB

November 18, 2022 by mvphelps Leave a Comment

It’s official. We stink on Thursday night! A truly dreadful 2-8 record through 10 weeks of lousy Thursday night football.

Titans are banged up and missing a bunch of starters on the defensive side of the ball on a short week. Packers are at home and looking to build some momentum after beating America’s team on Sunday.

Going to take the Pack to cover as 3 point favourites at home.

Thursday night pick: GB-3.0

Thursday night record: 2-8

NFL 2022 – Week 10 Picks

November 13, 2022 by mvphelps Leave a Comment

Some may call me a push over, but after racking up three pushes last week, I can assure you I felt like pushing someone over Sunday night. The Falcons and the Rams were both looking like wins for us, until it all faded to black in the blink of an eye.

Anyways, the NFL is hosting its first ever game in Germany this weekend and we’re concerned something may have got lost in translation. The Bucs, we repeat the Bucs, are a three point favourite against Kenneth Walker Jr The Third and the Seahawks. Are oddsmaker forgetting that TB12 and company looked dreadful for the first 59 minutes last week against the Rams or the fact that their offense has sputtered all season? One drive seems to have cured all that ails the mighty Buccaneers from Tampa Bay. Not buying it or the arrival of Cade “Baby Gronk” Otton. Romo seemed to have that nickname in the holster ready to fire if even one catch was made by Otton last week. Pump the brakes!

Josh Allen has a wonky elbow so hard to justify the -6.5 line favouring the Vikings. Having said that, Kurt D Cousins has a tendency to disappoint in big games. Might not always be his fault, but does Cousins have a signature moment or game in his career? Also intrigued to see how the Packers bounce back after a three INT performance from Mr. Rodgers against a stout Dallas defence. The Packers as a 4-point home underdog seems a little too forgiving. Dallas is primed to beat the wheels off the Packers at home as Dak continues to work off the rust and round into form for the stretch drive.

Here are the picks for week 10 below highlighted in bold:

  • SEA@TB (-2.5)
  • MIN@BUF (-6.5)
  • DET@CHI (-2.5)
  • JAX@KC (-9.0)
  • CLE@MIA (-3.5)
  • HOU@NYG (-4.5)
  • NO@PIT (+1.0)
  • DEN@TEN (-2.5)
  • IND@LV (-4.0)
  • DAL@GB (+4.0)
  • ARZ@LAR (-2.5)
  • LAC@SF (-7.5)
  • WAS@PHI (-11.0)

Thursday Night ATL@CAR

November 11, 2022 by mvphelps Leave a Comment

We’re sporting an impressive 2-7 record this season picking Thursday night games. Feelin like we’re going to go a big run on primetime games to finish the season.

With all eyes on Georgia this week as the fate of American democracy hangs in the balance, we like hot Atlanta to go on the road and cover as a -2.5 point road favourite. I think Carolina is closer to the team we saw Sunday against the Bengals rather than the previous game when they upset the Bucs after trading away CMC to San Fran. Panthers got the expected pump from a coaching change against the Bucs, but don’t be surprise if Carolina limps across the finish line at the end of the season.

Taking Mariota and the dirty birds to win big on the road and beat their predicted win total for the season at most sportsbooks prior to the season. And it’s only week 10!

Tonight’s pick: ATL -2.5

Thursday night record: 2-7

Thursday Night BAL @ TB

October 27, 2022 by mvphelps Leave a Comment

No doubt Al and Kurt were licking their chops when the schedule came out and Amazon had this game. Fair to say both teams have been fairly pedestrian this season. Bucs have looked bad on both sides of the ball and don’t seem to have any rhythm on offence. Ravens have been up and down, blowing lead and after lead in the second half.

Chris Godwin looks like he can’t get open and Mark Andrews is clearly dealing with an ankle injury that is impacting his play. He gave it a go last week against the Browns but only had two targets and no receptions.

The Bucs are at home and I think they are going to come out desperate with their playoff hopes quite possibly on the line. The Ravens secondary is weak and I think Brady and the Bucs receivers might take advantage and finally start to righting the ship. I’ve been bullish on the Ravens all season and they just keep disappointing against the spread. Injury status for both Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman aren’t great, so Lamar might be primed for an all-time Lamar balls out performance on primetime – running and diving and dancing all over the Bucs defence.

Fun Fact: Tom Brady has a 14-3 record all-time on Thursday Night Football

Picking a desperate Bucs teams as a two-point favourite at home to take advantage of a banged up and sub-par Ravens secondary.

Thursday night record: 2-5

Thursday Night NO @ARZ

October 20, 2022 by mvphelps Leave a Comment

Can these Thursday night games get any worse? Last week’s barn burner was between the Commanders and the Bear. Unwatchable until the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter. At least there was some drama at the end on the last play of the game. Commanders hold at the call line on a catch that in real time looked like a TD. Commanders escape with a win despite another terrible performance from their QB. He just looks bad.

Arizona is a home 2.5 point favourite after scoring 9 points in Seattle Sunday. The Saints D couldn’t keep up with the Bengals receivers last week, but I think the Saints are going to be able to score some points against a disappointing Cardinals defence. I’m a little nervous about the return of Hopkins, but I can’t imagine that one guy back in the receivers rooms is going to cure Arizona of its offensive woes. They still have Kliff Klingsbury calling the plays, right? That ain’t good. Still nervous though. Going to take the Saints and the 2.5 points, just don’t call it a comeback after that beat down we took last week.

Thursday night record: 2-4
